Cash tracking
Shopify POS cash drawer reconciliation in the daily closeout
For locations using Shopify POS Pro cash tracking, TillClose brings opening float, expected cash, counted cash, and the difference into the same PDF as the day's sales, refunds, and tender breakdown.
How drawer over or short is shown
Shopify POS Pro records the cash tracking session. TillClose reads that existing data and displays opening float, expected cash, counted cash, and the resulting difference. It does not alter the session or the count.
- Opening float: the cash recorded when the tracking session began.
- Expected cash: Shopify's expected drawer amount for the session.
- Counted cash: the amount recorded when the drawer was counted.
- Over or short: the difference between counted and expected cash.
Reconciliation beside the tender totals
The drawer result is more useful when it can be reviewed alongside what the register collected. TillClose separates cash, card, gift card, and other tender types, and includes sales, taxes, discounts, and refunds for the selected day.
The report is read-only and does not record a new count. Staff continue to open, count, and close the cash tracking session in Shopify POS.
When drawer reconciliation is unavailable
Drawer reconciliation requires POS Pro at the selected location and a cash tracking session that was actually opened and closed. If those records do not exist, TillClose explains that the drawer section is unavailable while still showing the rest of the closeout.
Common questions
Is Shopify POS Pro required?
POS Pro is required only for the cash tracking and drawer reconciliation section. The sales, tax, refund, and tender portions of TillClose can still be used without it.
Can TillClose enter the counted cash amount?
No. The count is recorded in Shopify POS. TillClose reads the completed cash tracking data and includes it in the closeout.
Why might the drawer section be empty?
The location may not have POS Pro, or a cash tracking session may not have been opened and closed for that day.
